Wearing patterns or prints takes a little skill, but with the right knowledge, you can successfully pull it off in a way that adds so much style to any outfit. Layering patterns or clothes connotes a level of sophistication, communicating that you put thought into creating an outfit with character. For this look, I took the layered approached pairing my new favorite polka dot jumpsuit with another one of my favorite off-the-shoulder tops (super trendy)… then doubled it!
Here are a few things to keep in mind when wearing patterns or layering in the summer:
- Try the layered approach – I tend to use 2 to 3 layers in an outfit; it adds both depth and functionality. My favorite time to mix and match patterns in the fall because layers in the summer can be tricky…
- Fit is everything – Because patterns are so powerful on the eyes, finding the perfect fit is everything! With this look I paired a very dramatic sleeve with a more form fitting jumpsuit. If the jumpsuit were super loose, it would look unflattering.
- Play with colors – Even though I’m a neutral girl, I like to play with colors sometimes. I went back and forth between a white blouse or this blue blouse…but guess who won!
