Let’s be real here, how many of us are living for the weekend? I’ve always tried not to be one of those people who spends their entire week counting down to the weekend, but especially during the summer. Sometimes you just can’t beat that happy sense of freedom that Saturday and Sunday bring. Lately I’ve been trying to find more ways to infuse every day of my life with more fun, and it’s got me wondering if there are simple ways that I could bring that sense of freedom into say, an average Wednesday.
As much as a I love the weekends, I’m learning to love the weekdays just as much. We dread Mondays & praise Fridays when in all honesty, everyday efforts the same opportunity. The thing is, I’ve come to realize that no matter how many weekend we rely on to get shit done or relax – our weekends deserve the same treatment. So ask yourself, are you living full-time or part-time?
Here are 5 ways to make everyday feel like the weekend:
#1 – Go Swimming; this mainly applies to summer but going to the beach is a relaxing way to either start or end your week. Mondays tend to bring the blues so I suggest swimming on a Tuesday.
#2 – Grab mid-week cocktails; call your girls up and find someones happy hour. Just about every restaurant has Happy Hour. ORRRR since the weather is so beautiful, invite a friend over and whip up some fancy cocktails – summer playlist mandatory!
#3 – Catch a movie; many weeknights, my brain goes into super-efficiency mode and I don’t even think to do just-for-fun things. Catch a movie you’ve been wanting to see – and yes popcorn counts for dinner.
#4 – Invite friends for a casual dinner party; I know, I know, the thought of cooking, hosting, and cleaning up sounds like a lot to tackle after work. That’s why Pinterest is your best friend for quick and easy meals…try shareable appetizers & cocktails.
#5 – Schedule a “midday” class; This is one of those activities that are so simple, not such planning is required. In the morning when I’m going over my schedule in may head I add in some sort of activity or class – yoga, cycling, bike riding, etc. Just have recess on your calendar like any other appointment.
