I feel like the days of regularly going to the mall to shop or to get fashion inspiration are fading. I still like to browse in brick & mortar stores especially on vacation but when I’m home the last place I want to go to is the mall. Online shopping is more comfortable for me. I’ll grab a glass of wine and shop away. Unfortunately, online shopping does come with its own issues like sizing, quality and color matching.
Here are my tips for successfully shopping online:
Shop at places with a good return policy: There’s nothing more disappointing than accidently wasting money on something that doesn’t fit or can’t be returned! (ouch) I always look for stores that allow free returns. Zara, HM, Anthropologie, Kate, Spade, Nordstrom and now Forever 21.
Check the reviews: Review are a pretty reliable source of information most times, especially if there are a lot of them. Of course these just opinions but it’s nothing more dissatisfying than getting a package in the mail and it not fit right.
Use Ebates for saving: I love finding deals, and sometimes sites will have Family & Friends discounts (normally occur around the same time). Shopping using Ebates is my greatest secret, which offers cash back on retail purchases in-store and online. Each brand makes their own cash back percentage & going through the Ebates app makes it sooo easy to save! I have saved over $500 with Ebates & get this…they mail you a CHECK. *download the app now and never shop again without it – thank me later ;)*
Check the size chart: Size charts are a lifesaver for determining whether a brand runs small or large. ASOS is a good example of a tricky size chart. Some brands are American & some are European, which can through things off. What you wear in one brand can be different from another. Most sites have them somewhere in the description.
Check what size the model is wearing + her height: This is trick I have been using since I could spend my own money on clothes. If I’m buying a dress online, I want to make sure it’s not too short for me.
Use Pinterest for inspiration: Sometimes I have a vision for a particular look in my head but I need a little inspiration. Pinterest is great tool to use for figuring out season trends and ways to style different looks. I feel like I can gather all my ideas on one board and use it as a guide. Just giving yourself something to reference will help you stay on track to not buy unnecessary things.
