Who said pink can’t be cool?
Pink was always my favorite color growing up, but as I got older, I started to shy away from it because I realize that it was to “girly” and “feminine.” At the time my style was more edgy and classic. But today I can tell you I think it’s still the coolest color. I mean can we talk about this monochromatic look for a second. Although I love feminine pieces now, I tend to stay in an in between area with pink because it already screams “girly.” For this look I literally threw a grey coat over my pink sweater…which was the only coat in my car. Go figure right?! I’m constantly asking myself, “how can I make my looks more editorial and edgy on a budget?” Now this isn’t the most expensive looking ensemble but the textures and colors play well together.
So here are five ways to make pink look “cool” again:
1. Pair different shades of pink together
It might sound counterintuitive because you’d think a head to toe pink outfit would look too girly, but it can actually make it look stronger. Monochromatic looks are more eye-catching to me than a bunch of different colors.
2. Add gold hardware
No matter the outfit I always add accessories. I’ve been loving the layered necklace trend because it makes any outfit have a more expensive, pulled together look.
3. Focus on the silhouette
Shape is everything. Don’t be afraid to pair something oversized with a pair of streamlined pink trousers, like these. Playing with different textures and dimensions will make your look that much more powerful and captivating.
For the longest time, I viewed monochrome as a various tones of one color. But with fashion you can switch it up and double-monochrome as I call it. Pairing two colors that compliment one another can take your look to the next level like this chunky pink sweater & trousers.
5. Own it
Nothing wears better than an outfit you feel and look good in. Be confident and walk like a badass in pink. At the end of the day, it’s all about attitude!
